چکیده

This paper provides a comprehensive explanation for the lift force acting on freely deformable bubble rising in linear shear flow and examines how scales with undisturbed rate cases governed by different mechanisms. Four distinct mechanisms are identified from previous studies, associated bubble-induced vorticity dynamics outlined. We provide theoretical framework to qualitatively explain terms of moments vorticity. support our three-dimensional multiphase direct numerical simulations illustrate four generate force. These findings behaviour wide range relevant governing parameters. Additionally, simulation results show differently rate, depending dominating mechanism. indicate that should, general, be accounted highly viscous flows (low Galilei numbers) or at significant deformations (moderate-to-high Eötvös when modelling coefficient.

Studies of migration and lift and of the orientation of particles in shear flows

Experiments to determine positions of spherical and long particles and the orientation of long particles can be carried out in a stationary frame by fluidizing particle in a balance of the buoyant weight of the heavier than liquid particle with (1) drag, which will be realized in a vertical tube apparatus (2) hydrodynamic lift (perpendicular to flow, as in a lifting aircraft) which will be real...

Bubbles and capital flows

This paper presents a stylized model of international trade and asset price bubbles. Its central insight is that bubbles tend to appear and expand in countries where productivity is low relative to the rest of the world. These bubbles absorb local savings, eliminating inefficient investments and liberating resources that are in part used to invest in high productivity countries. Through this ch...

The state dependency effect of morphine on memory by behavioral and electrophysiological methods in freely moving rats

Endogenous opioid system agonists exert amnestic effects in different models of memory. It has been suggested that these amnestic effects may be linked indirectly to state-dependent learning. Accordingly pre-training administration of morphine can impair the retrieval of learned tasks in a state dependent manner, which is reversible by pre test morphine administration. In this study, state depe...
